What We Do

Pelvic floor physical therapists are specially trained in the evaluation, assessment and treatment of the muscles, joints and tissue of the vagina and rectum. It is not truly pelvic floor PT without this specific internal pelvic floor muscle examination, assessment, and treatment. Not all pelvic floor PTs are trained to treat all genders and yes, this is different. Here at Advanced Pelvic and Spine Physical Therapy, we have expertise in treating all genders.

Owner, Physical Therapist
Pelvic Health

I have been practicing as a PT with a focus on pelvic and spine health since 2009 and it is my passion. I first heard about pelvic floor physical therapy (which used to be known as women's health) my first year of PT school in 2006. A PT from the community in Portland, OR  came to speak to our class about this specialty and talked about how we could help women (and men) heal from bladder leakage, pain, prolapse, prostate issues, and possibly avoid surgery. I was fascinated. I always knew I didn't want to focus on traditional types of PT in my career and I saw the potential to help so many women and men with a unique problem. I was also drawn to pelvic health PT because in my 20's I had a very close female family member who was suffering from pelvic pain, spend a year going from Physician to Physician, nurse practitioners, OB/GYNs, and psychologists before she was diagnosed with Vulvodynia. At the time this condition was not well known or researched and the treatment typically consisted of being prescribed anti-depressants and using topical creams such as lidocaine for pain relief. Vulvodynia, or chronic pelvic pain is still largely misunderstood and it can still take a women an average of 2-3 years in the medical system to get diagnosed. But here was this specialty of pelvic health PT I was hearing about that helped women tremendously with this condition! I remember calling my family member immediately after that class to see if she ever had pelvic floor PT, and she had never heard of it. I like to think we have come a long way since then.  While I was still in PT school I started additional education outside of my PT program specific to pelvic floor PT through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute as this was not a topic covered yet in most PT school's curriculum. I also utilize the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for the spine.  I am a reputable PT in Reno and I work with OB/GYNs, Urologists, Midwives, Doulas, Clinical Sex Therapists, Massage Therapists and other PTs. Every woman and man deserves the dignity of having a body that works for them.  When you come to see me, you get a full evaluation of the spine, hips, knees, ankles, and pelvic floor muscles to see how you are moving and what might be contributing to your problem. We then work together in a one-on-one setting to determine the best treatment plan for you. This may include manual therapy, internal pelvic floor muscle work, exercises and home exercise program. You are an active participant in your healing.  I look forward to working with you.

Wendy Greene MSPT, COMT, CSCS Pelvic Health Physical Therapist

I have been a physical therapist for 23 years and the last 8 years I have focused on pelvic health. After having children, I struggled with returning to exercise, intimacy and balancing being a mom while having a career. I dreaded my first postpartum 6 week check-up and had no idea what to expect. Thankfully, because I was already a PT I just KNEW there had to be another way to approach perinatal, postpartum and pelvic health in general. I began mentoring with Jenni Limoges in 2015 when we were colleagues at another practice and was thrilled to join her private practice in 2022. I work one-on-one with you in a private setting. I look forward to working with you!

Emilee Gisler Virtual Practice Manager

Emilee Gisler is our Virtual Practice Manager. You won’t be seeing her in our Reno office as she is located in Washington state, but you have likely spoken to her on the phone for scheduling or with any questions! Emilee also helps with some of the backend tasks, like website updates, social media posting and assisting with creating educational content. She enjoys the flexibility of a virtual position as she has three kids all aged 5 and under and appreciates the ability to continue working in the pelvic health world as she has been a licensed physical therapist assistant (PTA) since 2016 and has had a special interest in pelvic health since the birth of her first child in 2018.
